Orange is vibrant. It is a combination of red and yellow so it shares some common attributes with those colours. It denotes energy and warmth, and has a bit less intensity or aggression than red, calmed by the cheerfulness of yellow. Try a dash of orange with deep purple, tempered by lots of mellow yellow or white for an eye-catching look that's not overpowering.

Brown is a natural, earthy, neutral colour. Shades of brown coupled with green are an especially organic pair. Brown and its lighter cousins in tan, taupe, beige, or cream make excellent backgrounds helping accompanying colours appear richer and brighter.
